Reseller Frequently Asked Questions
This support article covers many of the frequently asked questions we receive regarding our Reseller Program.
How do I sign up to be a reseller?
There is no special sign up required. Simply create a new account on our web site and then visit the Reseller Manager page. You will be required to accept our reseller terms and conditions. Once you do so, you are then set up as a reseller.
Do you offer a website I can use to sell domains to my customers?
Sorry, but we do not currently provide a reseller web site option for your customers to use to register and manage their domains. You therefore have 2 options for creating your reselling web site:
- Third-party Service Integration
We have modules available for many of the most popular reselling platforms such as WHMCS, HostBill, Blesta, BoxBilling and Clientexec. - API Integration
We offer our API for free. If you have the requisite programming capability, you can create an entirely custom reselling web site using our API to process the necessary registration and management functions.
Do you offer special reseller pricing?
There is no special pricing for resellers, but all customers (including resellers), qualify for discounts via the NameSilo Discount Program.
If there is no special pricing, how can I make money?
Our regular pricing is already among the lowest in the market. We also never charge for any add-ons such as WHOIS Privacy, email forwarding, etc. Also, as you add more domains to your account, you will qualify for even lower pricing when using our Discount Program. The combination of our already-low pricing as well as free add-ons leaves room for virtually any reseller to sell domains at a good price and still make money.
Will my customers know NameSilo is the registrar?
We make every effort to allow private-labeling our service for resellers, however, there is no method for entirely hiding ourselves as the underlying registrar. For example, per ICANN rules, the registrar name is required to be shown in WHOIS output. Also, certain mandatory communications such as annual WHOIS Data Reminders (WDRP) also require the registrar name.
Beyond the mandatory places our name must appear, we allow private-labeling virtually all other interaction with our system for your customers. For example, you can replace your name with ours in system email notices, landing pages for actions such as transfer approvals, etc. You can also select to use a generic website with no branding (other than an optional logo you can upload) for when your customers need to use a web site for actions like WDRP review, email transfer approvals, etc. Finally, you can customize WHOIS output with your name in the "Reseller" field as well as adding messaging to WHOIS output for thin registries (such as .com and .net).
You can read more about the private-labeling and other options made available via our Reseller Manager support article.
What if my customer contacts you?
In the event your customer finds out that we are the underlying registrar, we will first direct them back to you as their reseller. We make every effort to ensure that the relationship you have with your customers is not infringed-upon. However, per ICANN rules, Registrants are guaranteed certain rights which we must abide by. If your customers contact us and demand their domain or relief related to any other ICANN-guaranteed right, we will direct them to our Reseller Complaints and Policies procedures.
