Password Retrievals

If you have forgotten your login information, you can use our "Password Retrieval" process to reset it. Simply click the "Forgot Your Password?" link on the login page and then enter either your username or one of the active domain names in your account. Our system will then ask the security question you selected during account creation. Once you answer that correctly, our system will send an email to the address we have on file with a link to reset your password.

Please note that if you have forgotten your username, you may use any active domain in your account in place of your username. For example, if example.com was an active domain in your account and you had forgotten your username, you could enter in "example.com" in the username field along with the correct password.

What if I forgot the answer to my security question?

In the event you forgot both your password and the answer to your selected security question, we will need to take a few extra steps to verify your identity prior to providing access back into your account. Please submit the following via the below form https://www.namesilo.com/forgot_security_answer.php:

  1. Your account username or the name of at least 1 active domain within your account
  2. Proof of purchase from a third-party. This can include a scanned copy of the front and back of a credit card (you can black out everything other than the name, last four number and expiration), or verification from an online account for your payment processor (such as PayPal or Skrill) so long as the transaction ID is shown. This can typically be done by logging into your account with the payment processor and providing a screenshot of the transaction. It is not enough to send a copy of an email receipt from our system. The proof of purchase must adequately prove that you have access to the payment method that was used. If you have not transacted on our site, please contact us for alternate instructions.

Once we receive this information, we will have our system send you a link to reset your password. The email will be sent to the email address we have on file for your account. We strongly recommend changing the security question/answer for your account once you log in.

What if I can't provide the information listed above or don't have access to the email address associated with the account?

We are very sorry, but we cannot make exceptions to the policies listed on this page. Domain names are a valuable asset and it is our goal to provide the utmost in account security to protect them. We understand that changes can happen which make it difficult to get into accounts such as changes in personnel at companies with accounts, using other people to register your domains who can no longer be contacted, quickly setting up accounts without accurate information, loss of access to account-related email addresses, or a number of other possibilities. Unfortunately, as it has become commonplace for hackers and others to attempt to gain access to registrar accounts, we prefer to err on the side of caution and security instead of simple convenience. We again understand that this may be frustrating for some people with legitimate reasons why they do not have essential account information, but the protocols listed above are put in place for the protection of our customers and we will not deviate from them.
