For more than 40 years, the .ORG domain has been the home for mission-driven organizations and individuals changing the world, from empowering people to build homes, feed their communities, heal the sick, and provide a helping hand, it has enabled the next generations to build a brighter future. .ORG is the home of a global community of changemakers working tirelessly for social change.
Public Interest Registry, the nonprofit behind the .ORG domain, launched the .ORG Impact Awards in 2019 to celebrate the incredible work taking place across the .ORG Community on a global stage. Over the past 7 years the awards have recognized over 300 outstanding .ORGS, received entries from more than 120 countries, and awarded over $865,000 USD in prize donations.
But what started as an awards celebration, has evolved into so much more for the .ORGs that have been recognized: it has become a global platform for connection, collaboration, and transformational growth.
In 2024, two .ORG Impact Awards finalists sat in a room in Washington, D.C. and found a connection and commitment that propelled both organizations into new ventures. While Yellow Boat of Hope focused on removing barriers to education in geographically isolated communities across the Philippines, School the World had spent more than 16 years successfully implementing holistic education models throughout Central America. While the two .ORGs shared a vision to make education more accessible to children, they differed in their approaches in doing so. However, those differences sparked a conversation on how they might be able to help each other.
By September 2025, School the World officially expanded into Southeast Asia through a strategic partnership with Yellow Boat of Hope, launching programs in six rural Philippine communities across Palawan and Zamboanga del Sur. Together, the organizations are addressing critical classroom shortages, improving infrastructure, training teachers, and empowering parents. All while adapting proven educational models to local needs.
These are the stories that have become common as the .ORG Impact Awards have expanded. Organizations from different regions around the world, with different models and missions, are discovering the power of coming together.
The power of this community is not always found in large-scale partnerships. It is often in the meaningful connections that turn shared purpose into real action. One finalist in the Hunger and Poverty category, Second Mile Haiti, was able to support fellow finalist Penta Medical Recycling after learning their critical medical supplies faced shipping delays in Haiti. Through trusted local networks and a shared commitment to impact, Second Mile Haiti helped connect Penta with the right people to move those resources forward, demonstrating how the .ORG network creates practical pathways for organizations to help one another advance their missions.
From small, local nonprofits, to global organizations, the opportunity to collaborate and grow with other like-minded individuals is what the .ORG Impact Awards are all about. Beyond recognition, the awards are helping build a stronger, more connected global community - one capable of creating even greater impact together.
