How to Set Up A Facebook Business Page

Having done so much work setting up your website, creating content, and optimizing it for SEO, it’s time to set up your Facebook Business Page. It’s a simple step that could supercharge your social media engagement, drive brand awareness, and increase website traffic.

Setting up a Facebook Business Page is the first step to growing your community and driving user engagement on Facebook and other platforms. It is also completely free.

Kelly Hendrickson, the Facebook Lead at HubSpot, says,

“Facebook is a discovery model platform. Its primary goal is to make the audience happy.”

Just like setting up eCommerce tools, email scheduling, and other vital processes, Facebook marketing should be a vital tool in building up  online presence for your business.

Is Facebook Still a Relevant Channel for Business?

An image conveying the question how to set up a Facebook business page.

Despite some downturns recently, Facebook is still one of the social media behemoths of our day. With 2.93B active monthly users, Facebook remains the largest and one of the least expensive  social media platforms for paid advertising.

This, together with Facebook’s features, makes it easy to grow your audience and gain traction with target customers. The platform’s inbuilt advertising tools and powerful targeting features make it an ideal resource for marketing your business.

How Set Up Your Facebook Business Page (From a Computer)

Facebook has set up a business help page with step-by-step instructions on how to set up your business profile. It’s quite intuitive, so here is a quick guide.

#1. Open your Facebook profile

Facebook Business Pages need to be created from a personal account. Sign up or log into your personal account from Facebook’s login page to get into your homepage.

#2. Create your Facebook business page

Find the “Create” button on the right hand side of the blue toolbar next to the “Profile” and “Home” buttons. Click on it, and a drop-down list will appear.

#3. Name your page

Facebook has rules about business names. For example, it should be capitalized correctly and should not contain symbols such as ® or special characters. Keep the business name simple and short.

Think about what people will search for to find your business. The best option is to use your formal business name, for example, “Ajax Business Services”.

#4. Add a category to describe your page

When setting up your Business Page, you can select up to three categories for your business. Choosing these categories correctly is important because it helps people find your business through search, recommendations, location, and related pages.

Try to be as specific as possible. For example, if you own a bakery, select “bakery” or “dessert shop” instead of just “local business”.

When you’re done, fill in the “Description” field by adding a sentence or two about what your business does. Be as simple and direct as possible, but be sure to add something that sets you apart from your competitors and draws customers to you.

#5. Enter business information

Enter all relevant business information such as your business address and contact information. Select “Continue” when you’re done.

#6. Select “Create Page”

Your Facebook Business Page is now created. However, it’s not yet optimized to be found and accessed easily by potential customers.

Continue the set-up process by adding a profile picture. This could be something like your brand logo or pictures of your products. The same goes for a cover photo for the Page.

Once your Facebook Business Page is ready and live, you can do a lot with it including posting pictures, sharing blog posts from your website, and moderating your user community.
